Although Ernie Kessler died in 2003, his legacy as one of the most knowledgeable real estate gurus of the 1980’s remains solid. Mr. Kessler had very solid credentials. Often called by the Washington Post, the "King of Foreclosures," Mr. Kessler was the single, largest purchaser of foreclosures in the Washington, DC area. He appeared on CNBC’s "Smart Money" and hosted the Washington Post’s conference on foreclosure.
Worth millions at the time of his death, Mr. Kessler had earned his fortune running a real estate club, real estate workshops, and publishing home study courses. I mention this because his work is still available. For about $600.00 you can pick up either Making Money with Mortgages or Advanced Secrets of Mortgage Profits. And, for about $300.00, you can pick up his how to titles which include Gold Mining with Foreclosures and 12 Foolproof Secrets of Foreclosure Profits.
Mr. Kessler also is the producer of a video, How to Speak and Sell from the Front of the Room.
From a historical point of view, Ernie Kessler is a must read. He got into foreclosures prior to the flood of interest in pursing this avenue of real estate investing and was very, very successful in his endeavor. I think his work offers a piece of a balanced real estate education necessary to understand the entire subject, and necessary to invest wisely.
